Oman Aluminium Rolling Company (OARC) operates a USD 385 million greenfield aluminium rolling mill in the Sohar Industrial Estate. Since commissioning in 2011, OARC has produced up to 140,000 metric tonnes per year of flat rolled aluminium products, sheets, coils and circles, with the plant designed for expansion to 200,000 metric tonnes. The mill uses a Hazelett Twin Belt Caster and rolls more than 11 different alloys (including 1050, 1350, 3003, 3105, 5052 and 8011) for customers in Building & Construction, Transportation, Packaging, Consumer Durables, Energy and HVAC across the USA, Europe, Middle East and Asia. A 25,000-ton-per-year coil coating unit was added in 2014. OARC employs around 300 people in Sohar and is certified to the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative Performance Standard V3.
