About Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Oman
The Central Bank of Oman (CBO) is the Sultanate's monetary authority and banking regulator, established in 1974. It issues the Omani Rial, manages foreign reserves, licenses commercial and Islamic banks, and oversees the payment systems. The CBO Board of Directors is chaired under Royal Decree and sets monetary policy, financial stability measures, and the regulatory framework for licensed financial institutions. The CBO operates the Mobile Payment Clearing and Settlement System (MPCSS) and the Oman Credit and Financial Information Center (Mala'a). Headquartered in Ruwi, Muscat.
