About Tax Authority
The Tax Authority is Oman's national tax administration, established in 2020 by Royal Decree replacing the former Secretariat General for Taxation. It administers corporate income tax, Value Added Tax (VAT, introduced April 2021 at 5%), excise tax on harmful goods, and manages Oman's double-taxation treaty network. The Authority operates a fully digital filing and payment portal (tms.taxoman.gov.om), handles audits and appeals, and publishes guidance for residents, foreign investors, and free-zone entities. Headquartered in Muscat.
