AD-DHAHIRAH GENERATING COMPANY

Ad-Dhahirah Generating Company (AGC) owns and operates the Ibri IPP, a 1,509 MW natural-gas-fired combined-cycle power station located at Ibri in the Al Dhahirah Governorate. Owned by a consortium of ACWA Power, Mitsui & Co. and Dhofar International Development & Investment Holding Company (DIDIC), the plant sells its capacity and output to Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP/Nama PWP) under a long-term PPA, contributing a substantial block of capacity to the Main Interconnected System that supplies northern Oman.

Like other Omani IPPs, AGC runs with a small and highly technical workforce concentrated at the plant site, supported by a commercial/finance team based in Muscat that interfaces with Nama PWP, lenders, the O&M contractor and shareholder offices in Riyadh, Tokyo and Salalah. External interactions are limited in number but each is high-stakes: an EPC retrospective claim meeting, an insurance renewal negotiation, a ministry audit, a lender technical advisor site visit.
