Oman Methanol Company (OMC) operates one of the largest methanol production facilities in the Middle East, located at the Sohar Port complex on the Gulf of Oman. The plant has been in commercial operation since December 2007 and currently produces more than 3,000 metric tons of methanol per day, with direct access to global shipping lanes through the Sohar deepwater port. In February 2024, Consolidated Energy (parent of Proman) acquired a majority stake in the company in a USD 347 million transaction, consolidating OMC's position within one of the world's largest integrated methanol producers. The facility exports to petrochemical buyers in Asia, Europe and the Americas.
